Northshore High School
Dance
Club
April 17, 2007 In the past of couple weeks,
Northshore High Dance Club has been very busy. After the club was invited and
honored to perform in a dance festival held in Heritage Park. Members performed
west coast swing, cha-cha, and east coast swing. Then our attention quickly
shifted to our last few classes. New officers were appointed for next year, our
final class party was planned, and new schedules for next year were discussed.
The party consisted of many different kinds of food and music. Before and after
class, the members danced to music and practiced all the dances we had learned.
New officers were also announced. Everyone is sad to see our seniors go but
anticiapte next year and all we will learn and do in Dance Club.

Sponsors & Officers
BACKGROUND INFORMATION There are some mad hot ballroom dance classes going on at Northshore High. Every Wednesday evening the cafetorium is jumping from 6-7:30pm. There are usually 60-75 dance club members learning various dance steps. They have focused on East Coast Swing and Cha Cha dancing for starters. Ms. Luzette Pecoraro, Faculty Member Dance Club Sponsor, is sharing her passion for dance with the students, giving them the opportunity to learn to dance with a partner. Tina & Lionel Hebert instruct the dance club and Ms. Pecoraro, a lifelong dancer, teach a lesson the first hours and practices with them for the last half hour each week. The students are having lots of fun, getting some good exercise, and learning some steps they can use for a lifetime. The dancers rotate around the dance floor and everyone dances with everyone. No previous dance experience is necessary. There are over 80 paid members in the dance club. Past Events NHS Dance Club had our Christmas Party and Dance Class on Wed. Dec. 14th. Pizza, soft drinks and desserts were served. We had about 75 students in attendance. Some dancers from Mandeville High Dance Club came to meet us and did a dance demonstration for us. They stayed for the class and danced with our students. Tina and Lionel Hebert taught East Coast Swing and Cha Cha during the lesson. Everyone had a great time (Photos).
