Your Help Needed: Dress the Youth Program!
Mandeville High School's Swing Dance Club has been a terrific success this 2005-06 school year! We currently have about 40 people that attend weekly in the MHS commons. So far, the beginner group has learned swing, cha-cha, salsa, and waltz and these were enjoyed by all. Our instructor, Mrs. Lisa Maggio, is very dedicated to our club and is willing to teach us any dance we want to learn. She is an excellent dancer and has experience in all dancing areas, and we wish to thank her for becoming a part of the MHS community. The Intermediate group has been preparing for the upcoming DanceSport competition in Baton Rouge this June. We are looking forward to the big day and have been practicing very hard. Although some of our Intermediates have already experienced what competition is like, this will be the first time for many. We cheer them all on and know they will do well. We are looking forward to our mixer with the Northshore Swing Dance Club on April 4th. It will be fun for both groups to get together and share what we all have learned. MHS Swing Dance Club wishes to thank our sponsor, Mrs. Donna Gardner, for backing us up 100% since the club formed three years ago. We would also like to thank Mrs. Denise Thomas and Mr. Vince Danna for their commitment to swing dance and our weekly meetings. And last, but certainly not least, all of our dedicated members that arrive on a weekly basis full of enthusiasm for the day's lesson.
